RV inspection prices: a posted median of $499, and about $1,200 for a Class A
We checked the websites of 217 RV inspectors in our directory in October 2026, and 28 of them post inspection prices. The median posted price is $499 across all packages, and climbs with rig size: $772.50 for a travel trailer, about $1,000 for a fifth wheel or Class C, and $1,199.50 for a Class A. The sample is small, so treat these as a starting point and ask for a written quote.

Key findings
- Only 28 of 217 inspector websites (12.9%) post a price. Everything below comes from those 28 sites, so read it as a rough guide.
- The median posted inspection is $499 across 64 prices that don't name a rig type (middle half: $263.75 to $692). That mix includes single-system checks such as roof or propane tests.
- Bigger rigs cost more. Class A median $1,199.50 (12 prices from 6 sites), fifth wheel $1,000 (9 prices, 4 sites), Class C $999 (9 prices, 4 sites), travel trailer $772.50 (10 prices, 7 sites).
- Single-system checks are cheaper. Posted roof inspections run $85 to $370, propane or LP tests $95 to $184.88, and an electrical system check $190.
- Fluid analysis is usually an add-on: 7 sites post it, from $95 to $225 (median $149).
Posted prices by rig type
Each dot is the median posted price for that rig type, and the bar shows the middle half of prices (25th to 75th percentile). Many inspectors price by rig class or length, so a motorhome inspection on a diesel pusher costs more than a check on a small trailer.
| Class A motorhome | 12 | 6 | $1,200 | $837.50 | $1,287 | $464 to $1,999 |
| Fifth wheel | 9 | 4 | $1,000 | $700 | $1,149 | $401 to $1,299 |
| Class C motorhome | 9 | 4 | $999 | $699.50 | $1,100 | $401 to $1,299 |
| Travel trailer | 10 | 7 | $772.50 | $386.75 | $858.75 | $284 to $1,000 |
| Class B or camper van | 6 | 4 | Too few | Too few | Too few | $267 to $850 |
| No rig type given (all packages) | 64 | 25 | $499 | $263.75 | $692 | $85 to $2,675 |
| No rig type given, full inspections only | 53 | 24 | $500 | $345 | $922.50 | $150 to $2,675 |
| Fluid analysis (add-on) | 7 | 7 | $149 | Too few | Too few | $95 to $225 |
Percentiles are shown only where there are at least 8 prices. Full inspections only leaves out single-system checks (roof, propane, leak, tire, electrical and moisture tests). Some sites post several tiers, and each tier counts as one price. Download this table (CSV)
Single-system checks
Some inspectors sell one-system checks as stand-alone jobs or add-ons. These are the prices posted, one per listing:
- Roof inspection or seal check: $85, $150, $150 (hourly) and $370 on four sites. See RV roof inspection.
- Propane or LP system test: $95, $125 and $184.88 on three sites. See RV propane inspection.
- Water leak (pressure) test: $184.88 on one site. See RV water leak test.
- Electrical system inspection: $190 on one site.
- Infrared thermography or moisture analysis: $636 on one site.
- Tire inspection: $100 on one site.
What it means for you
A posted price tells you the ballpark, not your bill. Prices shift with rig length, diesel or gas, how far the inspector drives, and whether you add fluid analysis, a roof walk or moisture testing. Use the table to sanity-check a quote, then get yours in writing.
- Ask for a written quote that names the rig, the package and every add-on, plus any travel fee.
- Compare like with like. A $250 annual check and a $1,200 full pre-purchase inspection on a Class A are different jobs.
- Ask what the report includes: photos, a moisture map, fluid lab results, and how soon you get it.
- Check certification. Many posted packages are sold by certified RV inspectors; ask which standard the inspection follows.
- Budget against the purchase. On a used Class A, a $1,200 inspection is a small share of the price, and it can be the reason you walk away or pay less. See what RV inspectors find.

How we did this
- In October 2026 we fetched the home page and up to four price, services or FAQ pages from the websites of 217 RV inspectors in our directory, honouring robots.txt, and kept the text around dollar amounts.
- A language model (DeepSeek) pulled out inspection prices only where the page states them outright, with the package name and rig type. Repair prices were ignored. We kept prices from $75 to $3,000. 28 sites had at least one usable price.
- Each posted tier or rig class counts as one price, so a site with a long price list contributes more than one value. Medians and percentiles are shown only for groups with at least 8 prices.
- "No rig type given" covers packages that don't name a class, including annual checks and single-system tests. The full-inspections-only row removes roof, propane, leak, tire, electrical and moisture checks by package name.
- Prices are what businesses post and can be out of date. We don't name businesses.

Questions people ask
How much does an RV inspection cost?
Across 64 posted prices from RV inspector websites that don't name a rig type, the median is $499, and the middle half runs from $263.75 to $692. Full inspections priced by rig run higher: a median $772.50 for a travel trailer and $1,199.50 for a Class A.
How much is a Class A motorhome inspection?
The median posted price for a Class A in our data is $1,199.50, from 12 prices on 6 websites, with the middle half between $837.50 and $1,286.75. Diesel pushers and larger coaches sit at the top of the range, up to $1,999.
Does an RV inspection include fluid analysis?
Usually not. Seven inspector websites post fluid analysis as a separate charge, from $95 to $225 with a median of $149. Ask whether engine, transmission, generator and coolant samples are included and how many fluids the price covers.
Why do RV inspection quotes vary so much?
Rig size and type drive most of the spread, along with travel distance and add-ons such as roof walks, moisture mapping and fluid labs. Our sample is only 28 websites, so always get a written quote that lists exactly what is covered.
